This is a wonderful book. The pictures are beautiful, and the rhymes perfect. It is a refreshing change of pace from the typical A is for Apple style alphabet book, with science themes that resonate with young children. I find this book to be age appropriate for my 4 year old son, who is learning his letters - and also for my 1.5 year old nephew, who is captivated by the images and rhymes. And it's enjoyable for parents to read, which I think is a necessity!

I have three kids 7 and under and all 3 love this book. The poem is lovely and rhythmic and the pictures are evocative and fun. Would make a great gift as well!

We just got this book and LOVE it! The pictures are beautiful, the rhyming scheme is fun, and the content is fantastic. It had my kids asking lots of questions about objects they hadn't seen before and discovering concepts they hadn't been exposed to before. As someone who is passionate about STEM education, I'm delighted that my kids are now interested in compasses and pulleys, all while reviewing their ABCs. This is a great book!

I loved this book and its concept. The images chosen for each letter are bright and engaging and I also really like that there is a glossary in the back of the book. STEM ABC’s is a great way to get young children interested in asking questions and wanting to explore more about objects they have or haven’t seen before.

In reading the book to a group of toddlers they were very excited about the illustrations. The book is imperative for education in the STEM curriculum. I strongly recommend this book! In knowing the author, she has a strong passion and understanding for providing early exposure and awareness to STEM education.

This is such a great book to read to young children. As an early childhood educator I believe STEM education is important to introduce. STEM ABC’s shows illustrations that will keep the child engaged and wanting to ask questions and know more!

As a Montessori educator, I appreciate STEM ABC's approach to phonetics through real-life photographs. The text is rich in vocabulary, and it's fun rhyme scheme keeps young readers engaged!

I usually read the book before I watch the movie, but this time I didn't.As soon as I finished watching the 2015 movie “The Big Short,” I immediately decided to read Michael Lewis’ book “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,” which forms the basis for the film. Lewis, who was himself a Wall Street bond trader in the 1980s and 90s, is the author of several non-fiction books, many of them dealing with the world of finance.“The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine” isn’t so much “about” the financial crisis as it is about what caused the meltdown in the first place. Lewis tells his story through the actions of four separate investment groups: Scion Capital; managed by Dr. Michael Burry; FrontPoint Partners LLC, led by Steve Eisman; Cornwall Capital, co-managed by James Mai and Charlie Ledley; and Greg Lippmann, a bond trader with Deutsche Bank. These investors, each working independently from each other, correctly foresaw the collapse of the housing markets in the United States in 2007. Nobody else saw it – or wanted to, for that matter.For years, many of the world’s biggest investment and commercial banks had been investing heavily in high-risk subprime mortgages. This caused housing prices to rise, and a “housing bubble” to form. But soon, variable interest rates on these mortgages would begin to rise sharply, and massive numbers of people with little or no income would begin to default on mortgages they could no longer afford. Our four investors each decided to “sell short” the housing markets by investing in “credit default swaps” – a form of insurance against mortgage defaults. It’s fast-paced, easy to read, and short (less than 300 pages). Michael Lewis’ story is very much character-driven. Others do not fare so well.One of the things Michael Lewis does best is explain many of the technical aspects of the financial system in a manner that I could easily understand. Although I’m sure “mortgage backed securities,” “credit default swaps,” and “collateral debt obligations” are probably a lot more complicated than even Lewis presents them, I found his explanations simple, straightforward, and very useful. As a result, I gained a better knowledge of the financial crisis.“The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine” is a very informative and entertaining book. For those looking to understand the basics of the 2008 financial crisis, this is one very good place to start. Highly recommended.

Clever and intriguing with a real from the street feeling as the writer, Michael Lewis tells the story from the viewpoints of several critical, but lesser known “main players” who saw and actively partook in the Wall Street madness. Lewis spent several years on wall Street- straight outta college and he understands the games played, his earlier book “Liar’s poker” dug into this –covering the 1980’ “Greed is Good” fever. ( I will be reading that book sometime in the future). What I took away from this book is that the reason the Bush and Obama administrations did not punish these big firms and their CEOs more is that (besides the corporate money influence standing in the way), the Wall Street bond “rabbit hole” is so deep that if you pull hard enough on one firm- they would collapse and as their bonds collapse- it would pull down one firm after another as they have all bet against each other’s bonds so heavily, resulting in a colossal financial collapse. What is perplexing is why Washington gave so much of the tax payer’s money to Goldman Sachs and to Citigroup.One warning I will share is that the language is this book goes beyond “Salty”. It was if the film “Serpico” was filmed in a bank’s conference room. The reader may be offended.

An interesting winter's read, I did enjoy this book.Anyone interested in animal intelligence and behavior will no doubt enjoy reading this.The author is scientifically methodical in his methods and research, and reports what he's learned and observed in a lucid and enjoyable style.Having been best friends with a wild bird for nineteen years, I was drawn to this book by its title. (A portrait of that remarkable and beloved friend hangs in a place of honor, in my living room today. RIP Bernie.)RayB

I eventually just put this back in the "library" of my Kindle, and would recommend that anyone interested (and patient) get a hard copy, since it's easier to skip around with those. I bought the book because I was (and am) interested in ravens and their lives, but the author seems more interested in writing about how he learned about ravens and the various techniques and ruses he used to do so. As with the recent (as I write) book about the ravens at the Tower of London, the author is constantly putting himself between the birds and the reader, and I finally just got too frustrated by being expected to admire him rather than them. So I shelved the book and will try it again, off and on, trying to find the sections that concentrate on the birds and not the author.

A wonderful book for anyone who loves corvids, or is just interested in the smartest birds on the planet (along with parrots and macaws). Yes, it's true, they are as smart as chimps, which makes them smarter than some humans I've met. I've lived among crows and ravens my entire life. I will always remember watching two ravens battle a bald eagle in the air above my head. I love jamming on my HAPI drum with the local crows, who sing along. But I learned more than I ever thought I could by reading this book. Well done! Read it, and then find some corvids to hang out with.

I am now fascinated by these amazing birds. The most common bird in Southern California where I live is the crow, and they are everywhere. I read this book with the intent to learn the difference between crows and ravens. I did a little research and found that ravens are common in SoCal, and also listened to sound clips of their calls on the internet. Since finishing this book with great enjoyment I have been looking at our black feathered friends much more carefully, but until today could not positively identify any ravens among the crows.One morning I arrived at work early, and as I approached the entry door I heard a distinctive soft croaking, which was most definitely a male raven. He was sitting alone in a tree just a few feet above the door. I stopped underneath and looked up at him and made a few clicking noises. He tilted his head and looked down at me with an eye that was rimmed in white. He seemed relaxed and stayed right where he was, the opposite of how a crow would behave at that close a range. It was an exciting moment for me, maybe not so much for him, who knows?This raven it turns out has a mate, and they are nesting in a tall tree nearby. I have also seen the female and heard her 'knocking' call. I can hear them both calling throughout the day when I go outside. Today I as I was leaving work I was watching them carry sticks to the nest, playing and jostling each other as they flew together, when I saw something that truly amazed me, and is seems to be an example of the zany antics of ravens that Prof Heinrich describes. One of them began flying in a tight 'U' shaped arc, starting about 20 ft above the ground. It cavorted like a pendulum for two or three minutes. The flying skill needed to execute these linked maneuvers over and over was hard to believe. It is fitting that this bird is nesting above the parking lot of the General Atomics Aeronautical building where the first Predator A aircraft were built.

I have always been fascinated by Ravens and wanted to learn more about them. I work in a 4 story building and outside of the windows are metal racks that reflect sun into the building. A few years ago 2 Ravens started hanging out on the 3rd floor racks which were right outside my office. These Ravens have entertained me for the past few years by knocking hard on the windows, watching us inside the building and I believe they also had some babies. When I picked up this book, my expectations were to learn more about my feathery friends and I did but I was riveted to the book and had a hard time putting it down. Bernd does an excellent job of telling you all about Ravens and knows how to keep a person captivated. I purchased this book to read on the Kindle and my only complaint was the pictures provided were small and although I could enlarge them, the resolution was then bad. Thank you for such a wonderful read.

Like all Bernd books, I very much enjoyed this effort. While the subjects were a bit eclectic the story lines of certain death processors (such as the dung beetles) was fascinating. A great read while camping in the Maine woods as it gives one a chance to pause and consider nature more deeply. Probably the most depressing feature is the fact we don't recycle the organic matter of humans in our culture though it is easy to understand indiscriminate placement of carcasses can lead to the spread of some disease and other less desirable realities. The work of the Compost School affiliated with University of Maine Cooperative Extension and many Maine State Agencies with using compost as a way to treat and contain some undesirable characteristics of disintegration of large animals could have added to the story line and created some more relevant and timely insight into the present situation of "recycling" animals.

Haley's father started the program but she's really developed it and made it her own.Right before Haley and Jax went their separate ways, he wrote her a song and she uses it to get him to come back for the record. Haley's really grown up and matured but she still believes in music and what it can do for people. Jax lives with Annie in Dallas and she now knows he's her father. She visits Grace from time to time but most of her parental time is with Jax.Jax and Haley really bring great things into the relationship and each other.

This is a lot different from any other rock band/star series books than I have read before. And I have read a lot. They are one of my favorite genres. This was an amazing series. I loved the differences in this rock star series. I loved the personal feel of these books. I loved how Jax couldn't write, didn't want to write, wouldn't write until he was truly inspired. Haley grew so much over the series. They both did and I loved that about these books. If you love rock star romances you have to read this series!!

Wicked Girl is part three of the Wicked series. Piper Lawson is an absolute genius when it comes to her writing!I’ve followed Haley and Jax’s story from the beginning and what sets the story apart from all the others is the everyday choices Haley and Jax had to make in order to be together.Don’t get me wrong the dynamics of their relationship (sex) is so hot the pages should have caught on fire.Wicked Girl had me sitting on the edge of me seat jus to see what was in-store for them on the next page.I could go on and on but hopefully this little synopsis of what this book felt like to me is enough for a reader who has heard of Piper Lawson be curious enough to pick up Wicked Girl book 3!

A satisfying conclusion to this series. I felt like Lawson tied this one up, neatly but not too neatly. I liked that the characters had so much individual development, but I wish that they were brought into the same orbit more quickly. I also felt like they had a lot of growth, but some of that felt like dropping a bomb that never really detonated. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but Haley was really forgiving of having to handle a lot solo, and I'm not sure that I would have been. Ultimately, this series was satisfyingly hot and broody, with unique characters and a different take on the rockstar trope.

This series was really great. In this book, they once again picked right up where the last left off, but over the three books it spans many years. This one brings it all together and has them reuniting on a new level.I loved the characters and growth through the series. Definitely a worth while read, even with it being broken into three books.

I totally enjoyed reading this book. I loved the story line and characters. I am glad that they finally got their happy ever after ending. I will continue to follow this author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Awesome ending to this series....I devoured it. Really good storyline, hot sex scenes, little twists and a kick butt female in Haley. So glad her and Jax for the ending they do deserved.Highly recommend this series.Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis

I loved this series...finished all 3 books in a day! One of my favorite Rockstar romances. I so enjoyed the humor, the tension, the love, the friendship... everything! It felt real...human, not over the top or focused on the superficial aspects that could so easily rule a story like this. Will definitely read again.

It’s kind of a long read but worth letting the meaning sink in. Helpful tips on organization, time and life management and inspiring photos. Not the usual “one size fits all” but doesn’t work for anybody approach to organizing! Now, just small steps are satisfying because I can read the map and understand what’s going to work and why.

This is an excellent book. I have read many of the Ruiz family’s books, and this book is one of the best. While Miguel covers a variety of topics on becoming a Master of Self, like unconditional love, forgiveness, awareness, and attachment, I especially like the way this book thoroughly explains the Toltec concept of Domestication. Miguel writes: “Domestication is the primary system of control in the Dream of the Planet. Starting when we are very young, we are presented with either a reward or a punishment for adopting the beliefs and behaviors that others in the Dream of the Planet find acceptable.”Miguel uses many wonderful examples to explain how domestication occurs in our lives (both in good and bad ways), and explains how when we aren’t aware of our own domestication (all the little ways we have bought into the “system” without investigation) we end up making choices and decisions that really aren’t are own, but rather the ones we have been programmed to make. Or as Miguel writes, “without awareness of our domestications and attachments then any notion that we have a choice is an illusion.”This is something I struggled with for years, pursuing things that really weren't me, all because I thought I was "supposed" to. While I had already dealt with many of these issues, I appreciated how Miguel explained them, it felt like a vindication, and I also found a few new areas I need to look at too.Lastly I also really liked the variety of exercises that are included in this book, but especially the ones which are designed to help us spot our own domestication, because once we are aware of it we can decide if we want to keep it or not.

Wisdom is one thing. Clarity in convening wisdom is another. Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. provides a clear roadmap to help anyone become his or her best self. His storytelling style makes his teaching very "sticky." You remember the stories and concepts together so they can impact how you stay focused every day. When I first read The Four Agreements, it changed both my personal and professional life. It did it because I could apply the learning easily. This is exactly the same kind of book. This book, as with the others, is amazing! I have had so much peace as I learn from these teachings. I am learning to not only be set free from the expectations of others but I'm learning to not put expectations on others. We are all artists, I must only learn to master myself.

This book is understandable and relevant to today's reader who is searching for a more enlightened walk through this age of Spirit. l recommend it to any one who wants to get rid of the mind games that are so distracting in our daily life.

S someone that read the Agreements previously, this was a great follow up read from the Author on how to increase personal awareness of your emotions, perceptions of yourself and the world as well as where certain feelings and beliefs can manifest themselves over time where they turn into a negative for yourself. Also some good reading the masks we wear in the different roles we play in our lives.

Lots of good ideas but it needs more practical real life applications. Saying "use unconditional love" sounds sort of empty throughout the book

I really enjoyed the writing style of Don Miguel Ruiz jr. He provided a lot of useful information on how to get rid of negativity in one's life in order to have a peaceful existence. I enjoyed reading The Mastery of Self and would definitely purchase copies as gifts to others.
