Lottery Brides, deafness, gypsies, secret passages, this book has it all!Bailee is running from her life, Carter is just existing. A lot happens in two weeks, so many things that it's almost too much. You forget it's a romance, oh sure they're falling in love but they're never alone long enough for any thing to come of it. In fact, they spend more time apart than together. If you're looking for juicy sex scenes, this isn't it. Maybe because they're both virgins. Why'd I give it 4 stars? Because I couldn't put it down. That is everything in my rating scale. And it leaves me wanting to know more.

A strong 4.5 stars for me! Second time I have read this book.Starts out wonderful! We meet the 3 brave, down on their luck, lonely women of Mrs. Thomas's Texan's series.Then we meet Carter who is to become Bailee's wife. OMG one of my favorite hero's EVER!!!!He's the strong silent type, which as the story progresses you will realize why. You will also learn that his still waters run DEEEPPP!!! He did'nt just tug at my heartstrings he ripped them out of my chest! He's shunned, he does not even realize he's so lonely. What he writes on his plain brown sack for the bride raffle is both simple and heartrendering. Then their are his first few spoken words to her, SSIIIGGGHH.I usually don't wax SO poetic over every novel I read but this one just stays with you.The heroine Bailee, although not as sigh-worthy as the Carter is still really likeable. She's brave, passionate, but also insecure, unwanted and untouched. They fulfill in each other the basic human need to love and be loved.Bravo Mrs. Thomas!Would have given this book a 5 star rating except for the middle where it gets unneccessarily convoluted with a child, train robbers, sheriffs, gypsies, whores, a ranger, a widow, and other people and sundry. Took away from the main characters beautifully blossoming romance. Of course some of this conflict helps the characters bond and realize how important they are to each other. Their was just too much melodrama.Still the ending, (not the epilogue) the last chapter in this book, was also pretty sweet and satisfying.This one made me want to write the author and beg her to re-write this one if only so I could spend a few more hours with Carter and Bailee.Read it!

I really loved this book and have read it more than once. It's the first of a trilogy and while they are all great and the third is really funny, this is my all time favorite. The main charactors develop as their love and respect for each other matures. It is funny in places, sad in some and tense in others. I had this in paperback and never got it back ( which proves it's a keeper) so now I have it on my kindle.You will fall right into this story and live in their world until the last page. I consider this trilogy great and this book in particular amongst my very favorites.

I'm less than halfway through this book, and I've already found seven typographic and grammar errors. It's incredibly distracting. One would think that a professionally edited book would be error free.

Great story I absolutely loved both bailee and Carter! I also loved exploring Carter's past and the man it shaped him into. The scenes are steamy but soooo heartfelt and full of love it stands out from the pale of other romances for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun fast read that was both touching and exciting. I liked Carter much more than Bailee. It was easier to understand him while Bailee was more of a mystery.

I enjoyed this one. I'd like to read the rest in the series. Good plot line. Funny in places. Romance was believable. Only a few hiccups in the story, but I can forgive those if the entire thing makes sense. I liked it all the way to the end! And hope to read more....

BUY IT! The author has produced an excellent, holistic, and credible system to successfully achieve a rewarding career in the music or entertainment industry. Although this book largely focuses on the music industry it is extremely valuable for establishing a successful career in other fields such as the sports industry.This book, unlike many music career books, brings a focus on other music career jobs beyond performing artist opportunities such as musicians, vocalists, bands, and singer-song writers.I appreciated the author sharing his personal journey to music career success and his candid description of the detours and obstacles he encountered. His experiences obviously led to the preeminent career management system he offers to the reader.The author’s five rules and ten steps to success in the music industry are priceless. I would recommend, at a minimum, all high school and higher education music curriculums include this book in their reading list. Moreover, I encourage music teachers and professors to incorporate the author’s principles in their lesson plans and career counseling activities. Finally I commend the author for offering his availability via online and voice communications.

I found this to be a very informative, insightful and helpful read from the author who has lived the experience of having a music career for most of his life. While being in a band or dreaming of being a top performer on The Voice may not be the focus of this book, the author lays in out in numerous charts just how many different types of entertainment jobs there are to be had, the duties required and salary ranges. Use the internet sparingly in your job search; seek out people instead. The writing style is friendly and effective and you get the sense he is sincerely there for you--even gives out his phone number. A well-worth it, not overwhelmingly long read that seems like an essential piece of your toolbox if this is a path you're interested in pursuing.

I made a mistake buying this book, a starting guitar player looking for live performance tips and advice as a side hobby and instead found a music industry guide. The book is geared towards different entry points for the music field as a profession and it actually helped me to better understand what I love as a hobby. The funny thing is that I'm a programmer/anayst/manager/whatever as needed and this book actually works great also for the whatever professions out there - pull out the music and insert programming code for the next great widget/ analytic report for the product type target company produces/ possible health care resources that would be great for the quality department of a hospital, etc.. I realized I had made a mistake in the purchase after I started to read but since I paid, I'm stubborn and I had to read - then got interested, then impressed and found it actually helped me understand much about the industry behind my guitar I love to play. I still need to find my guitar tips and tricks for live performances but this book is well worth the price and more, the time taken to understand what you are reading!

This book was a quick read for me on a plane ride. I have 3 kids spread from high school to middle school to elementary school who are all very into music. This was a great read on the types of careers and options they have out there. The author does a great job level setting you up front that if you are trying to have a career as a musician or singer in a stadium this is not the book for you. If you do want to make a good living in the music industry this seems llike the perfect read and I am getting it for my middle school and high schooler immediately. I like that the author has real world experience and was able to detail and share a couple of mistakes that he made which we all do from time to time.  There were quite a few things you can do in the industry that I did not know about at all and having salary data was also an eye opener for some of the different things they can do to make great money! I think the best target audiences for this book is a high school or college student or anyone who is on the outside and really would like to be working in the industry. Â

David Ruttenberg provides a specific action plan in pursuing a career in creative, interesting areas of the music industry. He shares his career choices, experiences, and mistakes with vulnerability, honesty, and humor; it is so valuable to be able to learn from his interesting journey. He clearly defines how to differentiate ourselves from others. So many of us rely on the web to find out information- this is information that we can all access; however, Ruttenberg shows us how to make personal contacts so that we can understand the industry, companies, and needs of the companies in a way that the general public does not. We then can learn about our creative area of interest from the people who have their fingers on the pulse of the company and the industry. I am so appreciative of the ubiquitous wisdom in this book.

If you are just starting your career, or you want to make a career change, then this book is a tremendously helpful resource to guide you in every aspect of that search. Whether you are in the music business or not, the author offers sound and wise advice for ANYONE in ANY field in a clear and concise manner. In that process, he does not oversimplify- indeed, there is a LOT that needs to be done to land your dream job, but he lays out an organized and well thought out road map for you to follow. He will make you truly think about what you want, what that looks like and really means. Ruttenberg details the means to get what you want and what tools will make you stand out from the crowd so you are much more likely to be the preferred, if not only, candidate for the job of your dreams.It's an easy and quick read- though the homework will take lots of time, energy, and thought. But what worthwhile endeavor ever existed that did not require prep work?Great resource!

I pre-ordered and waited excitedly for many months before this book was released and was pretty disappointed in it when it finally arrived.The cover material is a typical hardcover, shiny material but feels and looks cheap compared to my Women in Science, Women Who Dared, etc books. The pages are also cheaper feeling, matte, dry to the touch, difficult to grip to turn pages. I'm comparing them again to my 50 Women style books (their books have shinier, grippier pages) because that's what I was expecting and again, the pages make it feel just cheap.The open letter in the beginning is probably my favorite part of the entire book.The stories themselves are definitely darker/weirder than I expected. Not that I wanted a Disney version, but my 10 and 5 year old daughters really didn't like most of them and we haven't touched the book in a long time because of it. Maybe the translations just don't work out as well as when told in the original languages.The illustrations are black and white (huge bummer for us!!!!) and there aren't very many of them anyway. I think just one per story.I wanted to add this to my toolbox for raising my kids to see/seek equality, but this one just misses that mark for me. There was a lot of hype built up for this book and I wanted to love it.

I loved the premise of this book. The collection of stories come from a wide range of cultures and geographical areas. However, the writing was clunky and not exactly kid readable. I found myself having to stop and explain things, and finally just ended up actively summarizing or rephrasing things as I read out loud to my niece. The writing over-complicated the stories and takes away from the really wonderful idea.

I love this book. I bought it because I am an Executive Coach who is dealing with more and more overload in the workplace driving higher and higher levels of mismanagement, poor leadership, and disrespect. I wanted something I could give to my clients to help them think easily about the dangers and costs of disrespect, and give them practical tools & rules to apply in their leadership, and in their own lives.This book does this, and has tools and rules aplenty. But unlike a lot of business books, I believe my clients will actually READ it, and all the way through, because it's an interesting and fun story, completely aside from what you learn. I liked the people - Des, Grace, and the rest. I wanted to know what happened to them. The book gets you involved in the drama and challenges of people who seem real, struggling with real issues - and then as a bonus, you get to learn how to do better, in a clear, understandable, immediately-applicable way.I have now purchased 5 copies to give to clients.

I just finished reading The Respectful Leader. I picked it up after reading, and really enjoying, the authors (Greg Ward) first book, Bad Behavior...Sticky Situations. I was expecting a straight forward "How to" book on leadership, but it was a fictional story of a CEO and the very relatable types of people and relationships in so many workplace situations. While much of it felt very common sense, there were many keen insights, strategies, and most of all an enjoyable read.I will definitley be purchasing any other materials by Mr. Ward.

When I saw this cover, I had to get it because not only does it have "Blessed" on it, it's mostly purple, which happens to be my favorite color!This Bible cover comes in two sizes (medium and large) to fit a variety of sizes of Bibles. I purchased the medium one to fit my NIV, Women's Devotional Bible, Hardcover and it fits perfectly. That Bible is hardcover and measures 5 5/8 inches by 8 3/4 inches by 1 5/8 inches. At first, I was concerned it wouldn't fit but it fits nicely. If your Bible is much bigger, you will want to purchase the large size. This cover is made in China of LuxLeather material and the purple parts have a man-made leather feel. The picture on it has a beautiful, purple butterfly as well as some flowers. On the front it says "Blessed" followed by "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord." - Jeremiah 17:7. The cover has a zipper all around it so you can make sure your Bible stays clean and dry if it's raining outside. On the zipper is a small metal piece with a cross. The spine of the cover has a purple handle so you can carry it that way. On the inside of the cover are sleeves to slide the covers of your Bible into and there are two loops for pens, pencils, or Bible highlighters.When this cover arrived, I was delighted to see that it was even more beautiful in person than online! I absolutely love the design and it's perfect and fitting for my beliefs. It fits my Bible perfectly and I've taken it to church a few times already. I love that it will keep my Bible safe from the elements on the way from the car to church. The zipper pull is easy to use but I wouldn't yank too much on it since doesn't seem as strong as my other one. I would just suggest being gentle with it and you should be fine. I have a pen and pencil in the loops and find those to be very handy. Perhaps the only thing I wish was different is that there is no pocket on the back of the cover like my other one, which is Purple Floral Bible / Book Cover - Philippians 4:13 (Large). I find the pocket handy to put church bulletins and papers in from that day but I can make do by putting them inside this cover or in my purse. I don't know if the large size has a pocket.Overall, I'm very happy with this Bible cover! It fits my smaller Bible perfectly and I'm proud to carry it into church every Sunday! I love the colors and especially, the Blessed verse since it pertains to my beliefs. If you, or someone you know, would like a Bible cover, this one is a great option. It's well-made and comes in two sizes, which should fit most Bibles. I've had great success with both of my covers and highly recommend them!

Awesome Bible Cover!! I have a lot of bibles and have 3 covers for my favorite study bibles and all of the covers I have are from christian art gifts and I love them all But I think this one is my new favorite :) the purple is a bit darker than the picture but still very pretty. Wow, is this case big! I have a large bible and a similarly sized devotional book inside with pens and some pamphlets. The graphics on the front are beautiful and I love the bible verse. It does not have a pencil pouch, but you can easily put more pens inside. The strap is sturdy and it has a neat little cross decal on the zipper that makes it easy to zip. It came on time and undamaged.

This Bible cover is above and beyond my expectations. The cover is smooth and exactly like the picture. It fit my large print bible. The butterfly is detailed so finely. The color was great, not faded nor different than the picture which made me extremely happy.

This has been different than what I was expecting. I was initially thinking this was going to speak about the future promises of the believer. Instead it has been speaking more about the future promises but how they differ from those of the non-believer. How we can be assured over and over because of the promises that Christ has made to and for us. Still a good solid read.Probably the best point of the book: Christian act and live in a manner according to God's promises that He has made known throughout the ages through His divine word. When I pray, I should pray expecting God to answer because I'm driving to do His will and He is totally committed to doing His own will. We as believers need to be more bold in prayers, evagelizing, studying, reading, discipling, fighting sin, etc. all because God has promised all of these to bear abiding fruit. Instead we show a lack of faith and trust in the God that we serve, by showing that He is not worthy of our trust by not living according to His promise."Even as first of all God made Adam, so must He make us over again, or else we can never bear His image, nor behold His glory"" He (Paul) treated God as He should be treated, namely, with unquestioning confidence. An upright man likes to be trusted; it would grieve him if he saw that He was regarded with suspicion."

Galatians 4:28,29 This is in the second chapter, but is like an introduction of what the book is about-comparing the Christian' s life with the unbeliever. This is a great book. I have never read any of Spurgeon's books before, just heard or read quotes here and there. I highly recommend it. I intend to buy more of Spurgeon's books.Thank you amazon for putting it in e-book form.

Great exposition of Hebrews. One of the best I've read.

Has been very encouraging to me as C. Spurgeon always has been. Seems there is no end to his wisdom, a quality greatly lacking in the world today.

I give this four stars because it's a bit dry at times and the language is sometimes difficult. That's a reflection on me, not Mr. Spurgeon, which makes it worth reading.

Excellent reading for Spiritual growth. Would be great to be used and discussed in a group of believers. Highly recommend .

Anything by Charles Spurgeon is good material. I thoroughly enjoy his writings!
