This is a very compelling read. I had a long day Saturday and came home late to see it had arrived. I thought I’d sit down and read a couple of chapters before bed. Just over 3.5 hours later, I was finishing the book. I took it to a family member the next day and she reported earlier she almost has it read - 1 day later. It tells the story from the viewpoint of both the wife, who is ill, and her eventual husband, and shows decades of what true love looks like. If you, or someone you love, suffers from lupus, or any autoimmune disease, this is a must read. Well written and lots of great advice.

While some have claimed this book is "silly" -I find it immensely useful. A "how to" of outfits for every occasion -with- yes -a healthy dose of Gallic humor thrown in. (There are outfits for getting your divorce; for dealing with a bank manager when your account is overdrawn and for having dinner with your ex).More importantly every outfit is classically elegant, practical, wearable -and you probably have most of the pieces (or similar) in your closet already. I've used several of the ideas here and have gone out of the house feeling chic and "put together" - but not trussed up like a Chicken or overdressed.

I actually saw this book in a Paris book store and couldn't wait to purchase it when I came back to the US. I think another review called it a glorified magazine (something like that), and I will say that description is correct, but I mean it in a more positive way. I've purchased style books in the past but this is the first book where I've been shown how to put it all together. It's "Look Book" for a reason - how to put your look together. I will disagree on the leggings and crocs. I love those. Otherwise, bull of helpful wardrobe ideas and tips.

I was so looking forward to this book, I read it in 5 minutes. Very very disappointing. I bought and still have 'Parisian Chic' from Ines which I loved. This book seems childish and immature and a little silly. Each 2 pager has a small useless paragraph of information per 'look'. One look was what to wear in front of the judge when you get divorced, seriously? I feel if you're going to write a book like this it has to be marketed to a certain age group. Definitely not for me, some of the outfits seemed to be for young early 20 year olds.Waste of my money. Ines please build on from Parisian Chic, that's what I'd like to read more of! That was brilliant...I'd give this 0 stars if I could. If you want a great book, buy her previous 'Parisian Chic' book.

I enjoyed this book and it served its purpose. I am looking to own fewer things. I am trying to decide how I want to define my overall style. While I love the Parisian look and find French women fascinatingly simple and beautiful, after viewing this book a couple of times, I decided I'm an American and will need to modify and pick and choose looks from this book and mesh with some American style concepts....like the hoodie zip-front sweatshirt for example. I also didn't see many options in the book for colder climates....with months and months of winter weather and snow. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will continue to look through it and enjoy the photos and the basic items used to show Parisian looks. I was laughing out loud at the "asking for a pay raise" look....it was jeans and a blazer?? Is that what people in France wear for a meeting with the big boss?

I was so excited to see that this book had come out because I loved her last book so much. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. It seems like a watered down version of the last Parisian Chic Look Book. The styles in the previous issue were stylish, interesting and classic while still being fun and feminine. Aside from a few pieces, everything in this new Look Book is terribly masculine, underwhelming, and unattractive with little in terms of styling tips. There seemed to be much, much more styling advise and overall content in the last book and I was hoping for the same in this book but sadly, it did not deliver.

Based on the sample of 'looks" I though surely there would be more gems inside despite the negative reviews.NOPE.Many are white jeans, blue jeans and inexplicably ugly drawstring pants that don't aways flatter the slender model.I agree with another reviewer that many of these looks won't work in warmer climates. Sequins, as I recall from the 80's, can get quite warm.Another puzzling choice is a fringed shoulder purse. Maybe it's a novelty in Paris but an easy find in any truck stop in the Southwest of the USA.

This was a waste of money. I am very surprised and so disappointed. I expected so much more from the author. Many of the looks were repetitious. It should have been noted that the book was geared toward young teens whose wardrobe is built around faded jeans. I have admired Ines de la Fressange for years. I can't understand what happened here.

Buy it used. Its not nearly as comprehensive as Parisian Chic, but its still fun to page though. Some of the outfits are outrageous even by Parisian standards but some of them are nice. I'm glad I did not buy it at the new price.

Wonderful Book! Written for Sweden and Swedish gardeners, intriguing for me here in the USA to read references to Swedish landmarks as boundaries for plant hardiness: "Tall Purple Bodach won't live through the winter outside the greenhouse much north of Stockholm." ("Really," I muse. "Hmmm. I wonder what that means to ME?") But references INSIDE the greenhouse apply anywhere, once the doors and vents are closed. Vegetables and fruits still grow and flourish in the same circumstances -- or don't. I absolutely LOVED the author's assumptions that every greenhouse WOULD have a grapevine growing inside it, at one end opposite the door. That must mean every greenhouse in Sweden has a grapevine in it? Now I'll have to go see... Lots of good growing tips and advice, especially for practical food growing, from a hands-on grower among a nation of hands-on growers, sounds like. I loved this book and I am currently recommending it to like-minded friends!

I really like the content of this book. It is a very detailed way to help someone start a greenhouse from deciding what type of plants to use to helping to determine the best methods for you to grow them. I like how this book displays your options but doesn't force you towards any one option, it basically says that if you want to do this then these methods are recommended for you but if you'd rather do this than these are better options for you. The one downside to the book is that a lot of space is wasted on pictures and the text itself is pretty small.

More about growing things in Sweden than America. Not as general as I thought it would be

Hoping it is something my daughter and son in law will read to grandson. The words are perfect for a 2 year old. A lot of sight words. There are some bigger words, but the more the story is read along with him, the sooner he'll learn them. Really cute story too.

She permits it, but puts a curtain behind the display so that the items won't be stolen.The owner of the land where the Games were going to be held cancels, as he's concerned about the possible ruckus, and they move to a resort up the hill.The professor is murdered with a broadsword and Mac is being questioned, as he was the last to see theman. Vi falls to pieces.The story is complex, very interesting, and the solution is surprising. (Vi does get her way about the wedding!)I read a hardback copy, 277 pages with a one page epilogue.Read it and enjoy!

Liss solves another murder mystery. This time it was obvious who the killer was, since Liss kept insisting that it was impossible.

This book was very pedestrian. Not something would normally read, but it was a book group choice. It did not make me interested in reading any other works by this author. It had no depth, very little character development, very little suspense and, overall, was not an enjoyable read.

Having just attended our daughter's wedding, I was in the mood for a murder mystery set around a wedding. Ms. Dunnett wrote so clearly that I felt I was present at the vows.Our Scottish sleuth, Josie MacCrimmon is reeling, not just from her Mother's interference in her wedding plans, but from sensing tension between her parents. The tension grows until it blows when Mrs. MacCrimmon's husband, Don is accused of murdering her former college love affair, Professor A. Leon Palsgrave, who is chairing the Medieval Scottish Conclave at the Western Maine Highland Games.This Professor Palsgrave has not only upset Liss' wedding venue, the games have to move to 'The Spruces' which is Moosetookalook's fancy hotel, but has also caused protestors to pop out to contest a reenactment of a battle between Henry Sinclair and the Native American Indians that may or may not have actually happened. Professor Palsgrave is also known as a womanizer so when he pops up dead by broadsword, the suspect pool is full.Liss finds herself having to accept her Mother's plans for the wedding and work on making sure her father is not arrested.The novel ticks us down days by days until the wedding and games. That kept the tension up. I found the details of a Scottish Medieval wedding fascinating and colorful. I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the epilogue.

This is one of my favorite series. This particular book was not the best of the series. I didn't care who killed the professor because he was obnoxious. Also, Liss's mom took over her wedding, and that made me nervous. I hate when main characters are bullied by another character. I liked that Liss and Dan finally got married. I just liked some of the other books in the series better than this one.

I like this kind of detective books, Kaitlyn Dunnett is a great writer, she keeps the characters believable.

I enjoyed the characters. The book was not as predictable as I expected. I liked the setting and plot. A pretty good mystery.

This has become one of my favorite series and each new book is much anticipated. Love the small town atmosphere and the premise of the series. Keep them coming.

Once I saw the cell's architecture (p. 19), I was better able to see it in the mind's eye. I felt compelled to meditate on my billions of cells and just thank them for all they have provided throughout my life, keeping me healthy, fending off illness, etc. I was truly amazed at the intense feeling that I was floating in peace and love, that I experienced almost immediately. That was all the proof I needed to know that my cells "heard" me and appreciated the acknowledgement.BTW - I also bought a copy of this book for an engineer-minded, "double-blind study" thinking, doubting-Thomas friend whom I call Mr. Spock. I hope this book helps him to see the Light :)

Good book about one biochemist's open-mindedness, creativity and spiritual growth over the years. Dr. Barrett introduces some interesting studies related to our cells, such as Dr. James Pennebaker's (UT-Austen) work on the cells and confession (journaling). She also mentions the pioneering breakthrough work of Dr. Bruce Lipton on cells. She gives some reliable scientific info about our cells which I liked. Was not enthralled with the writing style--the book is a bit dry, but there is certainly good information. It made me appreciate and understand the lessons in the Rosicrucian Monographs (AMORC) at a deeper level. Frankly, there is a lot more helpful information fairly early in the Degrees of the AMORC Monographs on the cells and many other spiritual topics.

"Secrets of Your Cells" by Dr. Sondra Barret is a beautiful, enlightening, and "scientific" book on the mystical, spiritual dimensions and properties of our body's cells. Dr. Barret very clearly and concisely puts into words what many authors have been attempting to do for decades, namely, to describe and elucidate in an easy-to-grasp manner a very complex and scientific subject to the "normal" layperson who may interested in understanding the inter-relationship between hardcore Science and Spirituality. Thank you Dr. Barret for writing such a enlightening, heart-felt, scientific book. I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

Glad I could learn so much about cells by reading this book!The most important lesson was how each cell might carry knowledge that the brain has stored. However, I have learned many other surprising facts and theories and am so glad I read this book. It was slow-going at first, not like an easy to read novel. However, I kept with it. So glad I did. The reading of it got so much easier as I got into it.It has changed my life in one way. I now want to take care of my cells by giving them less stress and to slow down a bit to help them relax.
